CHERISE BERNARD, PHD
SPEAKER. STEM ADVOCATE. INNOVATOR @ SPOTIFY.
Cherise T. Bernard leverages her experiences as a scientist, woman in tech, educator and STEM advocate to help connect students and early career professionals with their passions. Currently, Dr. Bernard is a Talent Acquisition Partner at Spotify, where she oversees the management of all undergraduate business, MBA and PhD research internships in the U.S., Canada and South America. In addition to leading Spotify’s MBA and PhD outreach strategies, Dr. Bernard is also initiating the creation of Spotify’s new Academic Relations Division, with the goals of creating and managing partnerships between Spotify and U.S. universities that amplifies research in artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing for new product development.
Dr. Bernard's message for students and early career professionals, particularly those in the STEM fields, is to refuse to be boxed in to the "normal" ideas of success and career progression. Cherise uses her own perspective of career pivoting as a vehicle to identify a deeper sense of passion and purpose.
Dr. Bernard is passionate about creating and leveraging diverse educational and career resources in science and technology. In her talk and upcoming book "Career Pivoting for the PhD and Other Professionals," She teaches strategies on how to personalize and design your career path, how to challenge the status quo of what you can do, and how it all aligns with purpose.
